The Deputy Inspector General Of Police – Special Duties/State House

The Office of the Deputy Inspector General Of Police – Special Duties/State House is responsible for providing security to the Office of the Head of State, the First Family, the Vice President and State House special guests and VVIP’s in order to contribute to socio-economic development of the country.

 

It performs the following specific functions:

 

a) Provide security to the Office of the Head of State, the First Family, the Vice President and State House special guests and VVIP’s;

 

b) Detect crime and arrest suspects in order to facilitate prosecution and ensure promotion of justice;

 

c) Protect and uphold the rights of citizens in line with the Bill of Rights;

 

d) Manage information and communication services in order to enhance operational efficiency; and

 

e) Provide logistical and administrative support in order to enhance the Divisional operations.

 

Under the Office of the Divisional Commander, there is a Crime Intelligence Unit for easy coordination of the crime intelligence functions of the Division in order to enhance efficiency.

 

I. Crime Intelligence Unit

 

The Unit is responsible for providing intelligence support and bomb expert services to the Division and other authorities in order to facilitate decision making and execution of operations.

 

The Unit performs the following specific functions:

 

a) Collect, correlate and analyse intelligence information from various sources;

 

b) Conduct regular threat assessment reviews and make appropriate recommendations;

 

c) Advise relevant authorities on the protection of key and vital installations based on the assessed threat; and

 

d) Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on the monitoring or arrest of persons with links to crime.

 

The Division comprises one (1) Directorate and one (1) Unit as follows:

 

a) Administration and Operations Directorate comprising the following two (2) Sections:

 

i. Administration Section; and

 

ii. Operations Section.

 

b) Personal Security Unit.

The Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police – Special Duties/State House is comprised of the following one (1) Directorate and one (1) Unit:

The Administration and Operations Directorate

The Administration Directorate is responsible for providing security protection services to the Head of State and Vice President and State House. It is also responsible for managing and coordinating human resource management and administrative support functions in order to enhance smooth operations in the Division.
