Police Divisions – 10 Provinces

The Division is responsible for protecting life and property, and maintaining law and order in the province in order to contribute to socio-economic development.

 

The Division performs the following specific functions:

 

a) Maintain Law and Order in order to ensure preservation of peace;

 

b) Detect and investigate crime and arrest suspects in order to facilitate prosecution and ensure promotion of justice;

 

c) Manage information and communication services in order to enhance operational efficiency;

 

d) Protect and uphold the rights of citizens in line with the Bill of Rights;

 

e) Collaborate with stakeholders on crime prevention and maintenance of law and order; and

 

f) Provide logistical, financial and administrative support in order to enhance operations.

 

The Division is headed by a Divisional Commander (Commissioner of Police) who is assisted by one (1) Deputy Divisional Commander (Deputy Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Crime Intelligence Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Legal Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Senior Human Resource Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Finance Officer (Superintendent) and one (1) Divisional Research and Planning Officer (Superintendent), one (1) Divisional Operations Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Traffic Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Community Services Officer (Senior Superintendent), one (1), one (1) Divisional Finance Officer (Superintendent), one (1) Media Liaison Officer (Assistant Superintendent), one (1) Officer Commanding (Assistant Commissioner of Police) for District A and Officer Commanding (Senior Superintendent) for District B.

LUSAKA DIVISION

The Lusaka Division comprises the following types of Districts:

 

i. District A – Lusaka and Kafue Districts, one (1) Officer Commanding (Assistant Commissioner of Police) each; and

 

ii. District B – Chilanga and Chongwe Districts, one (1) Officer Commanding (Senior Superintendent) each.
