The Division is responsible for providing security and protection to airport infrastructure, passengers and goods in transition at the airport.
The Division performs the following specific functions:
a) Respond to security incidences within the airport;
b) Conduct security patrols within the airport and surrounding areas;
c) Conduct guard duties for vital installations within the airport;
d) Provide VIP protection services; and
e) Collaborate with stakeholders on airport security related matters.
The Division is headed by a Commanding Officer (Deputy Commissioner of Police) who is assisted by one (1) Deputy Commanding Officer (Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police), Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Operations Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police), one (1) Divisional Crime Intelligence Officer (Senior Superintendent), one (1) Senior Human Resource Management Officer (Senior Superintendent), one (1) Divisional Community Services Officer (Superintendent), one (1) Dog Master (Assistant Superintendent), one (1) Accountant (Assistant Superintendent), one (1) Senior Liaison and Protocol Officer (Assistant Superintendent), one (1) Research and Planning Officer (Assistant Superintendent), four (4) Officers in Charge (Assistant Superintendent) for Kenneth Kaunda, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula and Mfuwe International Airport Police Stations, four (4) Officers in Charge (Chief Inspector) for Mongu, Solwezi, Chipata and Kasama Airport Police Stations and three (3) Officers in Charge (Inspector) for Kalulushi, Mansa and Mbala Airstrip Police Posts.
In the Office of the Commanding Officer/Commissioner of Police, there is two (2) units, namely; Public Relations and Research and Planning for easy coordination of the communication and planning functions of the Division to enhance efficiency.
I. Protocol and Liaison Unit
The Unit is responsible for providing protocol and liaison services at the airport.
The Unit performs the following specific functions:
a) Sensitize travellers on matters relating to airport security;
b) Provide protocol services to VIP’s; and
c) Collaborate with stakeholders on matters related to provision of protocol
The Unit is headed by a Senior Liaison and Protocol Officer (Assistant Superintendent) and assisted by one (1) Liaison and Protocol Officer (Chief Inspector).
II. Research and Planning Unit
The Unit is responsible for coordinating, formulating and reviewing institutional plans to facilitate effective implementation of programmes and projects.
The Unit performs the following specific functions:
a) Coordinate the development, implementation and review of the institutional plans;
b) Monitor and evaluate the implementation of programmes and projects;
c) Coordinate preparation of Annual and other reports; and
d) Coordinate and conduct periodical research in order to generate information for informed decision making.
The Unit is headed by a Research and Planning Officer (Assistant Superintendent).
The Division comprises six (6) Sections, two (2) Units and Police Stations as follows:
i. Criminal Investigations Section;
ii. Human Resource and Administration Section;
iii. Crime Intelligence Section;
iv. Community Services Section;
v. Operations Section;
vi. Canine Unit;
vii. Finance Unit; and
viii. Police Stations.
The Section is responsible for general and specialised criminal investigations in order to facilitate prosecution of offenders in the Division.
The Section is headed by a Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (Assistant Commissioner of Police) who is assisted by one Deputy Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (Senior Superintendent).
The Section is responsible for managing and coordinating human resource management and administrative support functions in order to enhance smooth operations in the Division.
The Section is headed by a Senior Human Resource Management Officer (Senior Superintendent) who is assisted by one (1) Human Resource Management Officer (Senior Superintendent).
The Section comprises the following Units:
i. Human Resource Management;
ii. Professional standards;
iii. Quarter Master;
iv. Information Technology and Communications;
v. Armoury;
vi. Transport and Logistics;
vii. Engineering and Mechanical; and
viii. Gender.
The Section is responsible for providing intelligence support and bomb expert services to the Division and other authorities in order to facilitate decision making and execution of operations.
The Section is headed by a Divisional Crime Intelligence Officer (Senior Superintendent) who is assisted by one Deputy Divisional Crime Intelligence Officer (Superintendent).
The Section is responsible for providing counselling, child protection, victim support, school liaison and chaplaincy services in the Division.
The Section is headed by a Divisional Community Services Officer (Superintendent) who is assisted by one (1) Deputy Divisional Community Services Officer (Assistant Superintendent).

The HQ Company is headed by a Company Commander (Senior Superintendent) and assisted by a Deputy Company Commander (Superintendent).
The Unit is responsible for providing canine security services at the Airport.
The Unit is headed by a Dog Master (Assistant Superintendent) who is assisted by one Deputy Dog Master (Chief Inspector).
The Section is responsible for the management of financial resources in order to ensure prudent utilisation of resources and accountability.
The Section is headed by an Accountant (Assistant Superintendent) who is assisted by one (1) Assistant Accountant (Chief Inspector).
The Police Station is responsible for protecting life and property, and maintaining law and order within its jurisdiction.
The Station comprises the following:
i. Grade B Police Station; and
ii. Grade C Police Station.
A. Grade B Police Stations
The Grade B Police Stations comprises the following:
i. Kenneth Kaunda International Airport;
ii. Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport;
iii. Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport; and
iv. Mfuwe International Airport.
Grade B Police Station is headed by an Officer in Charge (Assistant Superintendent) who is assisted by one (1) Deputy Officer in Charge (Chief Inspector), one (1) Senior Criminal Investigations Officer (Chief Inspector), one (1) Senior Crime Intelligence Officer (Chief Inspector), one (1) Senior Traffic Officer (Chief Inspector), one (1) Officer-In-Charge – Community Services (Chief Inspector), one (1) Front Desk Supervisor (Inspector), one (1) Armourer (Inspector), and one (1) Officer In Charge, Police Post (Inspector).
B. Grade C Police Station
The Grade C Police Stations comprises the following:
i. Mongu Airport;
ii. Solwezi Airport
iii. Chipata Airport;
iv. Kasama Airport.
v. Mbala Airstrip;
vi. Kalulushi Airstrip; and
vii. Mansa Airstrip.
The Grade C Police Station is headed by an Officer in Charge (Chief Inspector) who is assisted by one (1) Deputy Officer in Charge (Inspector), one (1) Criminal Investigations Officer (Inspector), one (1) Assistant Crime Intelligence Officer (Sergeant), one (1) Traffic Officer (Inspector), three (3) Assistant Community Services Officer (Sergeant), one (1) Front Desk Supervisor (Inspector), one (1) Station Operations Officer (Inspector), one (1) Camp Provost (Inspector), one (1) Armourer (Inspector), one (1) Officer In Charge, Police Post (Inspector).
